The Avenue Breaks Ground!

Construction on The Avenue downtown is officially underway!

In a ground breaking ceremony held last Tuesday, Sealy Property Development, the City of Huntsville and the Chamber of Commerce rolled up their sleeves, grabbed a shovel and officially “broke ground” on the $34 million dollar project.

And Charlie Sealy III and his wife Sasha who are developing the project, weren’t the only ones excited to see it officially get underway. Mayor Tommy Battle was also excited for what he thought Charlie and Sasha had in store for downtown Huntsville.

“I have a feeling if I know Charlie and Sasha this will be something that is very unique for this area, something that has some very special aspects to it that is hard to match,” he said.

Charlie himself is excited to bring the block back to it’s former glory when, during the 1860s to 1970s, it was a bustling block home to a variety of mixed uses, such as a hotel, residences, and various businesses.

“Since the ‘70s, it’s been vacant,” stated Sealy. “Sasha and I really look forward to bringing it back to life and getting activity here in downtown.”

The development includes a resort-style swimming pool, high-end amenities, a 400-vehicle parking deck, large sidewalks and variety of retail shops and restaurants featuring outdoor dining spaces.

Crunkleton & Associates is excited to be handling the retail leasing for this development and to start announcing tenants soon! Make sure to subscribe to our blog so you’ll be the first to know when we start making announcements!
