9-Round Fitness Opens This Saturday At Twickenham Square!

DSC_0289

The wait is finally over! 9-Round Fitness, the only workout that changes every day, has no set class times, includes a free trainer and let’s you pretend to be an MMA fighter for 30 glorious minutes of your life each day, is set to open this coming weekend!

Located across from Publix and next door to Mei Wei Asian Bistro, in the Twickenham Square shopping center, 9Round will be open from 9am-Noon this coming Saturday and offering membership specials, tours and demonstrations.

Grand opening specials will include $100 off their 8-week body transformation, which includes your first 2 months of membership, championship boxing gloves, wrist wraps, a MyZone heart rate monitor and more!  The studio will also be offering 12,6 and month to month memberships as well.

“9-Round is a 30-minute total body kickboxing workout,” said owner Steve Bump “We change the workout daily so members will never get bored.”   But variety isn’t the only thing 9-Round is about, the studio also believes in accessibility, so that their clients can work out on their schedule. “There are no class times, so you can workout on your schedule whenever we are open, and a trainer is there at every workout to show you what to do at each round!”

And just to get you even more exited for opening day, we snuck over to 9-Round’s studio last week and asked a few of their professional staff trainers to do a demonstration and give us a sneak peek at the workout!

Here’s what we loved about the workout in addition to the lack of class times and variety the studio offers:

No clocks!

That’s right the space is void of clocks! All you have to guide you is a three minute timer that will sound an alarm letting you know when it’s time to move to the next round.

It’s fast!

The whole workout only takes about 30mins tops and burns around 500 calories!

You have a trainer and every round has a modification!

Never thrown a punch in your life? No problem. There are staff trainers there just to help guide you through each of the rounds and show you everything you need to know.  AND every round has a modification so you can take it as easy or hard as you want at each station!

You get a cool fighter nickname.

We know this may not be the most rational reason to love a workout, but come on’, who doesn’t want to be known as the “DaHulk”, even if it is for just 30mins each day?

After their grand opening on Saturday 9-Round will be open:
Mondays & Wednesdays: 6:00am-1:30pm and 3:30pm-8:00pm
Tuesdays & Thursdays: 8:00am-1:30pm and 3:30pm-8:00pm
Fridays: 8:00am-1:30pm and 3:30-7:00pm
Saturdays: 9:00am-12:00pm

They are located at:
309 Pelham Ave, Suite B3
Huntsville, Alabama 35801

9Round Fitness Is Coming To Twickenham Square!

What takes 30 minutes, changes every day, has no set class times, includes a trainer and let’s you pretend to be an MMA fighter for a solid 30minutes of your daily life?

9Round 30Min Kickbox Fitness.

A 30-minute, full body, kickboxing workout, 9Round is set to open their very first Huntsville location at Twickenham Square this winter.

“What I liked about it is that it is so fast, you are constantly doing something,” said franchisee Steve Bump.

Bump who owns the Anytime Fitness in Hampton Cove with his wife Jodi, was introduced to 9Round by a friend who had joined the franchise’s first Alabama location in Tuscaloosa.

“I go on the website and immediately I think, we need this in Huntsville,” said Bump

The concept is structured around a system of 9 rounds, the workouts at each changing daily, with rotations between rounds every 3 minutes assisted by a green, yellow and red signal light.

“Every three minutes the green light goes off and you begin the round. Two and a half minutes in the yellow light goes off and the trainers yell “30 seconds!” and you just punch it out as much as you can until the red light goes off signaling the end of the round. At that point, the trainer will then yell a transitional exercise (squats, lunges, jumping jacks, burpees, etc.) as you’re moving to the next round, then the green light will go off again and the trainers will yell “next round!” and you’ll start whatever exercise is set up next for you,” explained Bump.

The beauty of the concept? Fast paced guided exercise with no set class times.

One of the biggest reasons people fail to hit the gym in his experience, said Bump, was missed class times. “People see they are a few minutes late for class and then end up deciding to just not go at all. Well, at 9Round, if you miss your 9:00 class, we have a 9:03, and a 9:06, and a 9:09, and a 9:12, because literally every 3 minutes a new rounds starts. With 9Round, whenever you’re ready, you just jump in and start your workout.”

Membership will include not only your gloves, wraps and access to 9Round nutrition with customized meal plans, members will also receive a MyZone heartrate monitor to wear around their chests during workouts.

Similar to a fitbit, the monitor is Bluetooth enabled and allows you to choose a custom fighter name to display on a large screen in the gym which shows your current heart rate, calories burned and the zone you are in so you know if you’re burning fat.

“The cool thing about the monitor is that it’s not just for use at 9Round,” said Bump. “The device can hold up to 10 hours of data and will download to the 9round computer when you come in next. That way you can utilize it for your personal workouts outside the gym as well. There’s even an app you can download to your phone for it.”

For Bump, one of the main selling points on the concept for him was it’s shear affordability. “Even the most expensive monthly membership, the month to month membership, will only be $99/month,” but of course Bump says, there will be special introductory pricing and deals when the gyms opens, and your first workout is always free to try!

For those new to kickboxing, don’t fear, 9Round will have special first timer workouts focusing on basic punching and basic kicking technique. From there says Bump, the intensity of your workout is up to you. “Our goal is to teach people good technique and then let you go at the workout as much as you can. If you’re burning your butt out there, it’s about a 500-600 calorie workout in 30mins. People are busy and our goal is to get you in and out.”

The gym, which currently has plans to open sometime after Christmas will be open from 6am-1:30 and 3:30-8pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday; From 8am-1:30 and 3:30-8pm Tuesday and Thursday and 8am-12pm Saturday.

The Pants Store Is Coming To Twickenham Square In Downtown Huntsville!

Crunkleton & Associates is excited to announce that The Pants Store will be joining the Twickenham Square shopping center in downtown Huntsville!

The Pants Store was originally founded by Mr. Taylor Gee in 1950, who started out as a pants jobber selling pants out of the trunk of his car. Every day he would climb into his Mercury and drive throughout the Southeast selling his pants to retailers.

Eventually, people began shopping at his warehouse in Leeds, Alabama and milling through his pant bins for pants. Then, at some point, people just started referring to the place as “The Pants Store” and the name stuck.

With the working motto of “Stack Em High, Sell Em Cheap” Taylor Gee built a thriving business by providing quality clothing at a fraction of his competitors’ costs. However, his over-the-top promotions didn’t always sit well with some of the store’s competitors. According to Mickey Gee, Taylor’s son, the Leeds store held a 24-hour-a-day sale event that sent buses emblazed with The Pants Store advertising winding through downtown Birmingham to ferry shoppers to Leeds. “Harold Blach (of the upscale Blach’s Department Store) would go ballistic when we would drive those buses downtown,” said Mickey Gee in a 2006 interview with the Birmingham Business Journal.

Blach at one point even challenged Gee’s advertising campaign, which boasted a 100,000-pair inventory. After lodging a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, an auditing team was sent to the Leeds store to count their pants. The unfortunate auditors wanted to stop counting once they reached 200,000 pairs, but eventually held out for a count nearing 350,000. The best part of the story is however, that after finishing their count, the auditors stayed and ended up buying several dozen pairs of pants each.

Over the years, the store has undergone minor changes to stay current with the times, but The Pants Store has always stayed in the Gee family, passing from Taylor Gee, to his son Mickey Gee and then from Mickey onto his two sons Michael and John Gee, who currently run the store today.

A casual lifestyle store for the whole family, The Pants Store now provides, not only pants, but also a wide variety of industrial clothing brands, and carries everything from socks to shoes to women’s apparel at four locations around the Southeast. The new Twickenham Square location will mark their fifth store and their first location in Huntsville Alabama!

The company carries brands such as Ugg, Southern Marsh, Miss Me, and Mountain Khakis, just to name a few, and plans to open it’s doors here in Huntsville at Twickenham Square in September of this year.
